The first collection of Augustus Hare pocket squares is inspired by the patterns found in a 1930s catalogue for a textiles show in Paris. Elements from cushion covers have been modified and multiplied to suit the medium of a pocket square. Each pocket square contrasted hem around the edge, adding an extra dash of colour.
All of our pocket squares are hand screen printed in Macclesfield, the historic home of the English silk industry. This labour intensive process ensures that the dyes fully penetrate the cloth, leaving no unsightly reverse side. We always hand cut our silk and have hand roll hemmed the edge of each square, making sure the tips of the pocket square look equally as elegant as the rest.
We have used a 16oz pure silk twill for this collection of pocket squares. This is the classic style of cloth and the perfect weight to give just enough clout to your breast pocket without looking overly bulky. The light and soft nature of this silk feels exquisite in the hand.
